Robert H. Stone came to Arkansas in 1839 at the age of 18. He was the sheriff of Poinsett County from 1844 to 1848 when the county seat was located at Bolivar. Then he was elected county clerk in 1848 and held that position until his death in 1859. He is buried in the family cemetery with three of his children. One huge monument was erected with all four names.
Robert H. Stone was the father of Thomas Ashley Stone (Bio), local historian who wrote much of the early history of Poinsett County.
One huge monument was pushed in a ravine on the south side of the road next to the home and property of Chick Brown.
DIRECTIONS. From intersection of Highway 1 and 14 at the stop sign, take Highway 1 north and go 3 miles to Massengill Road. Turn east on Massengill Road at the Bolivar Cemetery sign and go .7 mile.
