Bolivar Cemetery is located at the site of the first county seat of Poinsett County. This cemetery contains 10 acres. The Bolivar Cemetery Association was organized in June of 1927. James R. Beard was elected President. Mrs. R.T. Parks was elected Secretary and Treasurer and John T. McCalla was elected corresponding secretary. The following Board of Governors were selected: W.J. Smith, J.G. Bonel, W.I. Barnhill, J.W. Strickland, J.T. McCalla, E. Crews, J.C. Howard, W.A. Metcalf, L.C. Griffin, S.D. Sweeney, John Barnhill, Belton Mills, George Norman, H.A. Farris, J.A. Smith, Marshall Durham, Willie Mills, W.A. Smith, Howell Stricklin, R.J. Severs, and M.M. Griffin.
In June of 1941 Nelle Langsdale and her husband G.W. Langsdale for $1.00 deeded 1 ½ acres to Mrs. S.V. Thompson, I.B. Mills and J.T. McCalla, Trustees of the Bolivar Cemetery. In May of 1976 an additional 3 acres was bought form James E. and Margie Wright for $1200.
The oldest marked grave is that of Elizabeth Griffin who died in 1838.

DIRECTIONS. From intersection of Highway 1 and 14 at stop sign, take Highway 1 north and go 3 miles, crossing Bolivar Creek, to Massengill Road (CR 800). Then turn east on Massengill Road at the Bolivar Cemetery sign and go 1.3 miles. Church and Cemetery are on the south side of the road.
