Student learns basic fire chemistry, fire behavior, safety, and methods and equipment used in firefighting. Required by Arkansas Fire Services. PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Description: Designed to familiarize students with full protective clothing, boots, helmet, gloves, specialized clothing, and self-contained breathing apparatus. Practical activities enhance this program. Required by Arkansas Fire Services. Length: 12 Hours Class Size: 25 Location: Statewide Instructor: Certified Training Officer (CTO)
Prerequisites: Introduction to Fire Protection. Students must furnish protective clothing. Students cannot have beards or long side burns. ( CTO ) Certified Training Officer must have Cover Sheet from Academy before teaching these two classes. No cover sheet no certificates will be sent.

BASIC FIREFIGHTING SKILLS: Description: Designed to teach or refresh students in the basic skills needed to safely and properly function on the fireground. Enhances the Introduction to Fire Protection program by expanding on hose handling, ladder evolution's, self-contained breathing apparatus maintenance and donning, and forcible entry equipment usage. Ventilation techniques will be covered. Length:16 Hours Class Size: 25 Location: Statewide Instructor: Staff/Adjunct
Prerequisites: Introduction to Fire Protection.Full participation is necessary in this course. Students must furnish protective clothing no beards or long side burns.

STRUCTURE FIRES BASIC: Description: Designed to help firefighters learn the chemistry of fire behavior, methods of fire attack, fire control, and suppression. Teamwork, safety, fire ground management, and protective equipment are emphasized during practical activities. The use of the ICS is practiced. Length: 16 Hours Class Size: 25 Location: Training Sites Instructor: Staff/Adjunct
Prerequisites: Introduction to Fire Protection, Protective Equipment. Students must furnish protective clothing, no beards or long side burns. (Special resources required)

BASIC RAPPELLING: Description: Course is designed to help students learn the proper selection and the correct usage of basic rappelling equipment, basic rappelling techniques, and basic rescue knots. Course builds confidence in the students' ability to properly and safely perform Rescue rappelling. Length: 16 Hours Class Size: 25 Location: Training Centers or Selected Sites Instructor: Staff / Adjunct
Prerequisites: Introduction to Fire Protection, Protective Equipment. Students will furnish approved helmets, leather gloves, and ankle supporting footwear

BASIC ROPE RESCUE: Description: Course is designed to help the students learn basic rope and rigging techniques,lifts, lowers, and rope climbing.Upon completion of the course, students should be able to perform as members of a High Angle Rescue Team. Length: 16 Hours Class Size: 25 Location: Training Centers or Selected Sites Instructor: Staff / Adjunct Prerequisites: Introduction to Fire Protection, Protective Equipment and Basic Rappelling. Students will furnish approved helmets, leather gloves, and ankle supporting footwear.

FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS-SPILL/LEAK CONTROL: Description: Designed to help students acquire basic knowledge of flammable liquid fire firefighting. Includes recognition of flammable liquids, characteristics and hazards of flammable liquids and control/ suppression methods for fighting flammable liquid fires. Introduction to foam equipment and suppression agents make this course very valuable Length: 16 Hours Class Size:25 Location: Training Sites Instructor: Staff / Adjunct
Prerequisites: Introduction to Fire Protection and Protective Equipment. Students must furnish protective clothing; no beards or long sideburns. ( Special resources required).

BASIC PUMP OPERATIONS: Description: Designed to provide basic knowledge of fire service pump operations, ancillary devices associated with pumps ( primers, etc.) preventive maintenance, basic fireground hydraulics, and water source requirements for pumping. Length: 12 Hours Class Size: 25 Location: Statewide Instructor: Staff/Adjunct
Prerequisites: Introduction to Fire Protection, current driver's license. Students must furnish protective clothing.

ADVANCED PUMP OPERATIONS: Description: Reviews current operational procedures for fire apparatus. Proper driving, pumping, and equipment spotting techniques are emphasized. Fire service hydraulics are part of this program. Student must bring calculator capable of figuring square root, and protective clothing. Length: 40 Hours Class Size: 20 Location: Statewide Instructor: Staff/Adjunct
Prerequisites: Member of Fire Department, Basic Pump Operations and a driver training course.
